Striped Beads First, pick out a a
piece of twistie that has an even pattern for about an inch. That's all you will need for one bead |
Then you need to lay down a base color. Take your strip of glass and melt in a small disc. |
I am sure I don't have to tell you how important it is to get that initial footprint consistent. |
Make sure it is nice and hot. |
Softly mash it into a nice even disk shape Let it cool slightly
so that it doesn't get distorted by the next step. |
Heat the end of your twistie, lay it on your base bead and rotate, keeping your twistie, not your base
bead, in the flame. Try not to pull or push the twistie. Just let it melt in without getting so hot it distorts. |
When you get all the way around, overlap the twistie slightly |
...and nip the the excess right off. |
Heat & rotate The twistie will melt into the bead. You
can manipulate the part that overlaps with your tweezers or small mashers a bit but I find it will merge almost seamlessly on its own. |
Giving it a little mash now and then helps keep it in line. |
Let it melt in. The base color widens and pulls the stripe with it. Now all that's left to do is encase it
