When I applied for my first juried show I had to come up with an Artist Statement (doesn't that sound well...artistic?)

Anyway, this is what I wrote -

"I am obsessed with glass. Hot glass (flamework,) warm glass, (kiln work,) the color of glass in the flame, the shape of the glass I take out of my kiln.

I love the smell of molten glass, the way the warmth radiates against my skin. I gather different glasses, frit in jars, rods and stringers, millifiori and sheets and sheets of glass on shelves. I cut, I etch, I grind. Mostly  I worship.

Glass fills the space in my soul that is empty and it spills out. I am happy to send my work out into the world. There is always more glass."

Sometimes the light's all shinin' on me;
